The province of Misamis Occidental through the Department of Trade and Industry ( DTI ) joins the whole country in celebrating Consumers Welfare Month this October.

In a press conference, Jane Marie. P. Tabucan , DTI Provincial Caretaker said, that this years theme is Consumers protection in the ASEAN economic community.

She stressed that everyone should be vigilant for the coming ASEAN integration comes January 1, 2016.

" The consumers would be delighted with the flow of products and services coming from other countries because we have the choice and this would also push for a challenge with the local market" Tabucan said.

Further, with the ASEAN integration. our local produced should also comply with the standards and the requirements abroad in the same manner. the manufacturers abroad should also comply with the standards and requirements set by law so that their products can enter the Philippine Market.

For her part, Maritess Alcampado , DTI Supervising Head and consumers welfare protection division in-charge, said that DTI is working to always protect the interest of the consumers.

" We will conduct an inspection in every establishments in order to know if they comply with the requirements in rendering services to the public and making sure that the consumers would always be protected" shared Alcampado.
