Pasungko Festival of Mis. Occ. is now internationally accredited as Tourism activity

OROQUIETA CITY - It’s a great pride for the Misamisnons worthy to celebrate when Pasungko S’g Mis Occ has been accredited as international activity of tourism.

This was announced by Department of Tourism 10 Regional Director Catalino “Butch” Chan 111.

In his message during the Opening Ceremony of the 86th Foundation Anniversary and 6th Pasungko S’g Mis Occ on November 3, 2015 at the Capitol Plaza, Chan announced the success of Governor Herminia Ramiro and Provincial Tourism Chairman and Board Member Gerard Hilarion Ramiro 111.

Chan said, that Pasungko Festival, passed the criteria for accrediting and recognizing festival activities in order to be included in the international list of tourism activities.

He added that Pasungko Festival depicts the preservation of the Subanen culture in the province.

“ I’m so happy and proud to announced that Pasungko S’g Mis Occ has been accredited and included in the international list of tourism activities. In fact, it attracts tourist from other areas just to observe the festival.” said Chan.

He congratulates the effort of Hon. Gerard Ramiro and Governor Hermie Ramiro for sustaining the said event that brings about 1.2 million tourists in six years in the whole Mindanao.

As such, Director Chan named Governor Ramiro as the Queen of Peace and Unity because of the concerted efforts of everyone from the Local Government Units ( LGU ) and even to the common tao in relation to political arrangement and unity in District 2.

To recall,Pasungko S’g Mis Occ. Festival was conceptualized during the first term of Governor Ramiro and implemented by Board Member Gerard Ramiro in 2010.

For his part, Board Member Gerard Ramiro clarified, that the recognition of the holding of the said Pasungko Festival is the result of the concerted and unified efforts of all the Misamisnons from the Mayors and tourism officers and most specially the people who accepted the call to uphold the dignity and pride of the Subanens.

Such announcement of Chan, excites everybody and looking forward for the years to come.

This year, the anniversary of Misamis Occidental is no longer conducted in two weeks but for the whole month of November so that everybody can showcase their talents and a one day big event for the Subanens dubbed as Subanen Day.

Indeed, the office of Board Member Ramiro is now on the process of finalizing the Code for this activity in order to continue the festival whoever is the Governor in Misamis Occidental as this is already in the list of the Department of Tourism.
