LGU OZAMIZ PROHIBITS SELLING AND USING OF FIRE CRACKERS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

OZAMIZ CITY – Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo O. Parojinog Sr, appealed to the people specially to the businessmen to refrain from selling fire crackers this holiday season.

The Mayor strongly made this call in a press conference held this afternoon ( November 23,2015) at the Mayors Conference Room.

Parojinog clarified that his office strongly prohibits the selling and playing of fire crackers as the traditional way of celebrating Christmas and New Year, to prevent injuries or casualties due to fire crackers.

“ Nag awhag ko sa katawhan sa Ozamiz ilabi na ang atong mga negosyante nga dili na sila mamaligya pa anang mga pabuto kay prevention man ning ato aron wala nay maputlan ug kamot, kulamoy o bisan saag nga bala” Parojinog said.

He added that most of the businessmen in the City who usually sell fire crackers are those who also sell fruits for Christmas and New Year.

As such he appealed to them that if ever they ( businessmen) have stocked some fire crackers, its better to dispose it in another area.

“ Kaila man ta anang mga negiosyane nato dinhi sa atoa nga sila man pod nang mamalgya ug mga prutas mas mayo nga kana na lang ilang idsiplay ug diling pabuto aron walay kadaot. Ug ang mamalitay ug pabuto, mopalit na lang ug pagkaon, bugas, sud-an o kaha prutas kay mapuslan pa.” Parojinog added

This is the first time that LGU Ozamiz is pushing such action in prohibiting the selling and using of fire crackers during this season of joy.

For his part Ozamiz City PNP Chief Police Superintendent Jerry Tambis also said that Camp Crame also ordered all PNP offices to confiscate all illegal firecrackers such as Super Lolo, Bawang, Goodbye Bin Laden. Good Bye Earth and many more of which whoever violates such order would be charged with 6 months to one year imprisonment and a fine of up to 20,000 pesos.

“Dunay order ana gikan sa Camp Crame nga mga fire crackers nga gidili and usa na sa atong tutokan dinhi sa ato, in line sa panawagan sa atong Mayor nga bawal ang mamaligya ug fire crackers kay aron walay madisgrasya.” Tambis shared.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) listed some of the prohibited firecrackers in the Philippines and warned every Filipinos to stop using them.

Coke-in-Can 14. Kwiton 15. Atomic Bomb 16. Five Star 17. Pla-Pla 18. Og 19. Giant Whistle bomb 20. Kabasi 21. other unlabeled and imported firecrackers

For those who are found guilty of buying, distributing and using illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics will be penalized with imprisonment of six months to a year and a fine of up to 20,000 under RA 7183.

Indeed, it was agreed among the media practitioners in Ozamiz City that their should be a massive plugging over the Radio and Television regarding the move of the Local Government of Ozamiz City in order to remind everybody regarding such actions.
